Contents:
Following the announcement of the promotion of Open Access (OA) at the G7 Science and Technology Ministerial Meeting last May, the Japanese Government officially announced its OA policy on 16 February. Under this policy, all publicly funded research projects such as Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research that are adopted after 2025 will be obliged to make their research papers (published version or final author manuscript) and the data on which the research is based OA. Underlying this global trend is a shift in business models in the publishing industry. While there is a shift from the traditional subscription model to a publication model, the increase in article processing charges (APCs) associated with OA is a particularly heavy burden on research activities in academia.
This session will examine government policy on mandatory OA and discuss its challenges with young researchers.

7. FAONS-supported Symposium

The Federation of Asian-Oceanian Neuroscience Societies (FAONS) was founded to promote the advancement of neuroscience research and education in the Asian-Oceanian regions, which include Asian countries, Australia,New Zealand, and islands in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The FAONS Congress is organized every two years by the member societies.
This year, the Japan Neuroscience Society is hosting the 8th FAONS Congress.Six symposia (1S03m, 1S08a, 2S01m, 2S08m, 3S08m, 4S08m) are supported by FAONS. We look forward to your participation.
A Governing Council meeting will also be held during the meeting on Friday, July 26, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm in room 401.
